Criteria for Admission
There are two living arrangements within The Hope Center for Residential Services, the Judith Ann Jordan Program and the Community Reintegration Program (CRP). The following are the criteria for both programs. For more information on the process or key contacts, please use the drop down menu under Admissions from the buttons above.
Judith Ann Jordan Program
Depending upon their individual needs, children may live in on-campus dormitories if they require special interventions, or in family-style homes within the Springfield community, which provide the least-restrictive learning environment. The Judith Ann Jordan Residential Program provides 24-hour “active treatment,” and coordinates individualized educational, medical and support services.
The Judith Ann Jordan Program provides residential services to youth between the ages of 5 and 21 who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability. The Judith Ann Jordan Program cannot adequately provide services to youth with certain issues including but not limited to:
- certain intense behavioral issues
- medical issues that require intensive care including but not limited to:
- tracheotomy
- serious respiratory conditions, including requirement of CPAP or BiPAP
- nasogastric or gastronomy tubes
- acute feeding issues requiring constant monitoring
- poorly controlled seizures requiring rescue medication on routine basis
Community Reintegration Program (CRP)
Some students may be admitted to CRP, which may (but does not require) residential placement.
Below are the admissions criteria for CRP:
- Youth must have a co-occurring developmental disability and mental illness
- Requires an IQ in the moderate to mild range
- Adaptive functioning should fall in the range of 4 yrs. 6 mos to 7 yrs. 6 mos
- An appropriate community placement should be identified for youth prior to admission, CRP cannot adequately provide services to youth with certain issues including but not limited to:
- suicidal or homicidal ideation
- history of cruelty to animals or people with intention of causing harm
- sexual predatory behavior
- substance abuse
- medical fragility
