Expertise

For half a century The Hope Institute has been a voice for children with developmental disabilities.  Hope understands how to teach, support and care for children and their families who are impacted by  Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), severe developmental disabilities or emotional disturbances.

The Hope Institute’s ultimate goal is to provide children and families the resources they need to reach their greatest potential.  The Hope Institute is providing these resources in many different ways throughout the state of Illinois.

On The Hope Institute’s Springfield campus, students attend school at a state-of-the-art Learning Center specially designed for children with Autism and other developmental disabilities.  Children who need more resources than their homes or local schools can provide live-in facilities on-campus
or community homes throughout Springfield.

The Hope Institute owns and operates The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP).  TAP has developed a statewide network that is training tens of thousands of parents, educators and providers on how to understand, communicate with and support children with ASDs.  The Hope Institute’s ground-breaking Noll Medical Pavilion will provide comprehensive, high-quality and low-cost health services to any child in Illinois regardless of ability to pay.  A new partnership with Chicago Public Schools will create The Hope Institute Learning Academy, which will bring the first autism-focused, responsible inclusion and demonstration school to the city of Chicago.

Like any children, children with developmental disabilities have the right to learn, grow and thrive in their communities.  The Hope Institute is turning this right into a reality for thousands of Illinois children and their families.
